Here comes the 2nd edition of our new blog. I hope that you enjoy this method of communicating. I do hope to “jazz it up” a bit in the coming months as I learn how to use all of the fancy bells and whistles.
We are one week into the second half of the year. For the first time since, I don’t know when and barring any snow days, we will have three full weeks of school before the February vacation. A great time for lots of learning.
We will be having our next school dance this Friday night beginning at 6:00 pm in the GMS Gymnasium. We like to remind all of our students and their families that all school rules apply, and that includes cell phone use and our dress code. We do have the phone in the office for students who need to call home.
This Thursday (February 2) and Thursday, February 16 are the evenings that the Gorham Lacrosse Boosters will be holding registration nights for all boys and girls who want to play lacrosse this season. Registration begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm on the 2nd and at 7:30 on the 16th. IF you’d like more information about the Lacrosse Boosters and registration, you can go to www.gorhamlacrosse.org.
On February 13th, Gorham High School Substance Abuse Counselor, Claudine Emerson will present Drugs 101: What Parents Need to Know. The evening promises to educate parents about signs, symptoms and current trends of alcohol, tobacco, inhalants, marijuana and other drugs adolescents may use. A highlight of the evening will be a mock bedroom set up for parents to observe. Throughout the presentation more than 50 drug and alcohol indicators will be unveiled to show how some adolescents hide drug and alcohol use from their parents. The mock bedroom will be set up for parents to view from 6:00 to 6:30 and the presentation will begin at 6:30. Please be advised that this is for parents only and not for children.
